Destination Casey Key – Paddle Board & Kayak Guided Tours

* Update to the Destination Casey Key Paddle Board and Kayak Guided Tours: There is now an exclusive vendor at this Sarasota County Park location. SUP Englewood is not able to bring participants to this Sarasota County Park any longer. We have partnered with Seashore Eco Tours to provide other Sarasota County Park locations such as Turtle Beach on Siesta Key and the Ted Sperling Nature Park at South Lido. Both locations are very close to Casey Key. We highly recommend the drive as both locations are protected from rental boat traffic, fast currents, and offer amazing views of wildlife.

Mangroves with resting Egrets in Casey Key on The paddle board Adventure Tour

This location launches from The North Jetty in Nokomis, Florida. This paddling area offers options for beginners and advanced paddlers. Beginners should explore the barrier islands that surround Casey Key because the currents here are not as strong.

Your guide will help you navigate the currents and depending on the wind you may be able to explore either location or both. The barrier islands are home to mangroves trees which are only native to this area. Paddling close to the mangroves allows for viewing of fish and live shells through the clear water.

Paddle board and kayak around Casey Key, Snake Island, Bird Island, and Turner Key. These barrier islands are found in the bay close to the launch at the North Jetty. Discover the waters of Lyons Bay, Dona Bay and Roberts Bay as all these waters follow out to the gulf through the North Jetty.

Guided Paddle Board & Kayak Tours at the North Jetty

Paddling tours feature bird watching

Paddle boarding and kayaking guided tours commonly encounter herons and egrets. This tricolored heron prefers to fish by the red mangroves. The mangroves create a fishing habitat for the birds. The branches of the red mangroves hang into the water promoting the growth of algae and plankton commonly eaten by small fish.

Paddle board & Kayak with dolphins and manatees

Discover marine mammals that live in the coastal waterways that surround Casey Key. The North Jetty is home to bottle-nose dolphins year around. The West Indian Manatee is commonly seen at this location seasonally. Manatees prefer warm waters and seek the vegetation found in local bays and inshore waterways. Manatees swim from the Gulf of Mexico through the North Jetty for shallow water filled with seagrass. Manatees inhabit this area from spring to fall. They leave during winter months when the water temperature is below 74 degrees.
